Russia's Astrakhan gas plant halts fuel, diesel output due to failure, sources say

Russia's Astrakhan gas processing plant, controlled by energy huge Gazprom, halted production of diesel and gas on March 31 due to an unintended upkeep, two industry sources informed on Tuesday.

Among the sources said the plant, located on the coasts of the Caspian Sea, will attempt to restart production on Sunday.

Though the capacity of the plant is not hugely significant for Russia, its blockage will likely add to Moscow's concerns amidst wide-scale blackout of refinery capability due to Ukrainian drone attacks.

The reason and the details of the outage were not right away clear. Gazprom authorities were not offered for instant comment.

Two traders stated that they got notification from St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange about suspension of. diesel and gasoline sales from the plant due to an unplanned. blockage of oil product output.

The plant can processing around 8,340 metric heaps. of gas condensate each day.
